Tack Barn | Holiday Cottage
The Tack Barn is our beautiful and sustainable holiday cottage, ideally located for Lewes, Glyndebourne, Charleston Farmhouse and the South Downs. It is tucked in its own woodland overlooking the pond and is kitted out with local products and art, making this a stylish and creative hideaway.
•
Living Area | An exceptionally bright and lofty room with french windows opening straight onto the deck and the outdoor dining space. There are beautiful views over the pond and through the trees onto fields. In chilly weather you can light the wood burning stove and settle down on the sofa - we provide the basket of logs.
Outside | The wrap-around deck leads out to the woodland garden and pond. There is a sheltered outdoor dining space for balmy days and a fire pit for more chilly ones. We would be delighted if you want to wander around the garden during your stay, or enjoy a sun-downer on the jetty. At night listen out for the nightingale singing in the trees.
Kitchen | To welcome you and to help you settle in we will leave a basket of delicious home-grown and locally sourced essentials in the kitchen on your arrival. We have fitted out the kitchen with everything a food-lover will need in the hope of encouraging you to make the most of our local food and drink.
|
Bedroom | A king-sized bed with line-dried, crisp organic cotton sheets and Hypnos mattress, from which you can look out at the view or listen to the owls hooting at night. The french windows open directly onto the deck and there is plenty of hanging space and drawers. There is also room for a cot which we can provide on request.
Bathroom | A double ended bath with shower over, sink and WC. We provide the organic cotton towels and flowers for you. There are some wonderful artists and makers working in and around Lewes, some even work in the studios here in the Long Barn, so it seemed like a good idea to use some of our favourite products and art throughout the barn.
Food & Drink | When our Kitchen Garden, orchard and poly-tunnel is in full swing we encourage our guests help themselves to fruit and veg. We keep an up to date (and personally vetted) list of recommended local restaurants and pubs, we can also recommend plenty of places where you can fill up the fridge with local food and one of our many award-winning regional English Sparking Wines.
Connectivity | If you are planning on working while you are here, perhaps writing a book (it has been done!), updating your blog or think you may have to check in on your emails you will be pleased to know that the Wi-Fi is excellent as we have a fibre connection to the property which ensures fast speeds. There is a desk and a table suitable for working at and good natural light.

Eco-Credentials | The Tack Barn was converted from a redundant stable block and is run with sustainability at it's core, while not compromising on comfort. Including; using line-dried linen, organic cotton towels, a wood burning stove and locally grown logs, solar heated water, triple-glazed windows, photo-voltaic electricity, low energy lighting, 100% renewable electricity, charge point available for electric cars, reed bed drainage and more...
Glyndebourne | If you are planning a visit to the opera while staying here we are only three miles, or ten minutes, from the world famous opera house. We would also love to recommend our good friends Lou and Katie who can put together a picnic for you.
We can also provide you with everything you might need (or have perhaps forgotten to pack); a picnic kit, festival programme, a bow tie and a taxi number.
"This place is a hidden gem. Perfectly located, this rural retreat provides everything and more! Needless to say, we'll be back soon."
