The Tack Barn | Holiday Cottage
The Tack Barn is our beautiful and sustainable holiday cottage, ideally located for Glyndebourne, Lewes, Charleston Farmhouse and the South Downs. It is tucked in woodland overlooking the pond and is kitted out with local products and art, making this a stylish and creative hideaway.
"This place is a hidden gem. Perfectly located, this rural retreat provides everything and more! Needless to say, we'll be back soon." C & B, Surrey
An exceptionally bright and lofty room with french windows opening straight onto the deck and the outdoor dining space. There are beautiful views, over the pond and through the trees onto fields. In chilly weather you can light the wood burning stove and settle down on the sofa - we provide the logs.
"It's light and airy and we had the sun streaming in for two full days. We made the most of their fantastic log stove in the evenings" R & S, London
We have fitted out the kitchen with everything a food-lover will need in the hope of encouraging you to make the most of our local food and drink. To welcome you and help you settle in we will leave a basket of essentials in the kitchen for you on arrival.
There are some wonderful artists and makers working in and around Lewes, some even work in the studios here in the Long Barn, so it seemed like a good idea to use some of our favourite products and art in the barn.
"An absolute delight, packed with treasures from regional artists."
B & T, London
A king-sized bed with line-dried, crisp Egyptian cotton sheets and plump cushions, from which you can look out at the view or listen to the owls hooting at night. The french windows open directly onto the deck and there is plenty of hanging space and drawers. There is also room for a cot which we can provide on request.
Double ended bath with shower over, sink and WC. We provide the organic cotton towels and candles for you.
"Spotless barn, super comfortable and cosy, with lovely views of the pond and grounds." R & D, London
The wrap-around deck leads out to the woodland garden and pond. There is a sheltered outdoor dining space for balmy days and a fire pit for chilly ones. We would be delighted if you want to wander around the garden during your stay, or enjoy a sun-downer on the jetty. At night listen out for the owls hooting in the trees.
"It's within easy distance of London but you really feel like you've escaped. K & B
If you are planning a visit to the opera while staying with us we can provide you with everything you might need; a picnic kit, a festival programme and even lifts to and from the opera house. We can also highly recommend our friends Louise and Katie who would love to put together a picnic for you, full of local treats.
There are a few extras that we can help you out with if you'd like us to, just let us know in advance if you will want any of the following;
"We have to admit that the surroundings were so lovely we spent a great deal of time relaxing in the grounds. The only downside of the whole experience was that we need to write this review as we would much prefer to keep the place our secret" B & T, London
